It's not exactly clear when the actual story began, but let's just say Johnny and his mule team headed southwest out of Trinidad, Colorado, over Raton pass and headed down through Santa Fe and down to Silver City, New Mexico. The destination for Johnny and his mule train was Tucson, Arizona, and later, Nogales, Mexico. The mules were laden with Gold bars and silver coin, but the mission was top secret and nobody really new what was in those heavy cowhide saddle bags. Traveling through the plains and canyons of New Mexico can be long and tedious, not to mention all of the raspy, scratchy scrub and sage, which rips at your legs, all day long. Upon hitting Truth or Consequences, the group had to consider bedding down for the night, for it was sundown and we wuz tired. We camped behind an old jailhouse in Hillsboro, next to the remains of that old jail cell. All night long, I was wondering who had been kept there - murderers, theives, petty theives... we didn't know and all we could do wuz speculate. We kept a night watch to make sure no bandidos wuz following us.
